Mendon Finance Committee backs $27.8 million budget tied to a Proposition 2½ override, then rejects $500,000 for affordable housing. The panel, chaired by Michael Krager, unanimously endorsed the $27,759,442.97 fiscal 2027 budget in three contingent motions, including a $1.1 million override request already on the ballot. Members also approved $2,050,000 in borrowing and a $566,379 stabilization draw for the Providence Street culvert, which Town Administrator Jeremy called the town's top infrastructure risk.

But the committee split 3-2 against Article 23, which sought $500,000 in Community Preservation Act funds toward two to five affordable housing units at 75 Providence Street, with members questioning the return on so few units. Several CPC-related articles, including a Sunrise Apartments water tank repair, were tabled pending more information before the May 12 Annual Town Meeting.
