Auburn Board Approves Dunkin' Drive-Thru Unanimously

Planning Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026

Auburn Planning Board clears a contaminated-site Dunkin' drive-thru, stalls on a neighbor dispute over tree removal. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a 6,400-square-foot building with a Dunkin' drive-thru at 481 Washington Street, a former gas station applicant Robert Branca of Branded Realty Group II LLC called a priority cleanup site in the town's aquifer protection zone. At 512 Washington Street, neighbors including Jay Lucier and Stephen Hill said Apple Truck's Steven Robinson cleared mature trees and dumped stone fill without a permit, calling the result "catastrophic"; the board continued that hearing to October 13 pending a Conservation Commission wetland ruling that carries fines up to $25,000 per day.

The board separately approved, 4-1 with one abstention, a roughly $5 million gravel wetland stormwater system at Casella's Hardscrabble Road transfer station, required under an EPA compliance order.
