Sterling Town Board approves $120,000 plow truck and more than two dozen annual resolutions at January 5 reorganization meeting. The board unanimously authorized the purchase of a used 2016 Western Star plow truck to cover Fair Haven road-plowing obligations after an aging 2008 truck became unable to source parts and recently left a driver stranded when it could not shift into reverse; a newly contracted truck will not be ready for approximately two years, making the Western Star an interim fix to be auctioned once the new vehicle arrives. Highway staff member Chris told the board the existing budget covers the cost.

In organizational business, Kent Baldwin was appointed town delegate to the Association of Towns and named chair of the Short-Term Rental Committee, Pat Crane was named chair of the Public Water Committee, and the Employee Handbook Committee was dissolved. The board set the 2026 mileage rate at 72.5 cents per mile, established a $150-per-day food allotment for the Association of Towns conference in New York City in February, and signed service agreements with Teresa Penfield as dog control officer, the Humane Society of Central New York as the town dog shelter, Leslie Parsons as webmaster, and Computer Outlet North for IT services.
