Sterling Town Board votes to pave town hall driveway, authorize zoning legal action. The board voted unanimously at its June 22 meeting to sign a paving contract with Northern for the town hall driveway, selecting that vendor over bids from Rosselli and Seneca Stone after Highway Superintendent Chris flagged ADA compliance concerns with the competing proposals. Northern's bid, which includes three inches of binder, an inch and a half of top coat, and milling around the handicap-accessible ramp to prevent water pooling, was chosen over a lower-priced Seneca Stone bid that proposed paving directly over existing sod — a specification Chris called out directly: "I've never heard of paving over sod and having a good base." The board also voted to authorize the supervisor and code enforcement officer to initiate legal proceedings against property owners for violations of the town's land use regulations and property maintenance code, and heard a personal appeal from Austin Davis, owner of 1734 Laxian Roof, who said his National Guard active-duty schedule and a problem tenant brother had prevented faster cleanup of the property.

On the water project, the board reported that a Northern Borders grant application was unsuccessful but said EFC financing remains available if the project goes to bid by July.
