Sterling Town Board Authorizes HVAC Contract, Defers Parking Lot Paving Vote

Sterling Town Board defers parking lot paving and awaits water project grant rulings worth up to $1 million. At the May 18 meeting, project manager Mike Jantz of C2AE told the board that Water District 2's fully designed water tower and distribution upgrade remains stalled by a funding gap, with the town now at roughly 75 percent grant coverage against a $3.3 million USDA base commitment. Jantz said Sterling has been placed in consideration for a national USDA grant pool and has advanced to the final round of a Northern Borders Regional Commission grant of $800,000, with a decision expected by June 12.

"If those grants don't come in, you're probably looking at a couple hundred dollars more a month, or a year," Jantz said of the impact on Water District 2 residents. The board also voted unanimously to authorize a $3,300 Great Lakes Heating and Air Solutions contract to add hallway ventilation at town offices, and tabled a parking lot paving decision after discovering one of three quotes covered the wrong road section.
