Sterling Town Board votes to reject state parental terminology mandate and accept annual fuel bids from NOCO at July 20 meeting. The board unanimously adopted a resolution declaring that the town of Sterling will continue to use the terms "mother" and "father" in its town code, building zone ordinance, and all official documents, opting out of New York State Senate Bill S9316 and Assembly Bill A8382A, which replace those terms with "gestating parent" and "non-gestating parent." The board also accepted the sole fuel bid received, from NOCO, with ultra-low sulfur diesel priced at a differential of $0.309 per gallon and LP gas at $0.600 per gallon over market. The supervisor was authorized to direct attorney Kevin Cox of the Camaraderie Law Firm to initiate legal action against the owner of tax map parcel 16.00-3-34 for land-use regulation violations, following a closed executive session.

Kent Baldwin was appointed town delegate to the New York Association of Towns, and the board adopted that organization's Bill of Rights by separate unanimous vote. Water District 2 bids are due September 1, with contractor advertising beginning July 28.
