Rutland panel orders cease and desist over wetland work

Rutland Conservation Commission backs 300-acre Moore State Park land buy, orders cease and desist on Prescott Street. Resident Steve Hare asked the board to support DCR's purchase of the Keyway Realty parcel, about 259 acres in Paxton and 40 in Rutland owned by Christopher Slade of Bolton, which would expand Moore State Park to 1,047 acres; the board voted 5-0 to authorize Chair Danza to write DCR land specialist Lonnie M. Fournier.

"If you could possibly write a small letter requesting that DCR purchase this land," Hare said. Commissioners also voted 5-0 to issue a cease and desist after member Brian Bjorklund flagged unpermitted driveway expansion near wetlands at 40 Prescott Street, reopening a case with enforcement history dating to about 2019. The board also cleared two certificates of compliance, approved hazardous tree removal on Finn Park Road, and is targeting an updated wetland fee schedule by the end of April.
