Conservation Board Delays Vote on Turf Field

Conservation Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Bolton Conservation Commission continues two hearings and tables two compliance requests, pending its conservation agent's site visits. The board voted 4-0 to push a decision on converting a school baseball field from natural grass to synthetic turf at 12 Green Road to October 6, after project engineer Chelsea explained the change sends "more infiltration to groundwater" rather than less. Life Scout Nick Costanzo's proposal for a 30-by-10-foot soccer rebound wall off Furbish Mill Road, an Eagle Scout project for the Bolton Youth Soccer Association, was also continued to October 6 so he can switch to removable "helical pile" supports favored near riverfront zones.

Separately, the board tabled certificate-of-compliance requests for 580 Main Street and 58 Main Street, the latter pending confirmation that a required conservation restriction was filed at the registry of deeds. No public comment was offered on any item.
