Conservation board approves four wetland permits
Conservation · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Shrewsbury Conservation Commission approves four wetland permits and flags years of unenforced orders. The board issued orders of conditions for a single-family home at 40 Westview Avenue, another at 255 Gulf Street, an in-ground pool at 92 Cherry Street, and a car dealership crossing at 957 Boston Turnpike, all unanimous. It also closed out certificates of compliance for 6 Cheryl Drive and 19 Jackson Street and backed a 50-tree pilot planting tied to Shrewsbury's 300th anniversary.
The board continued a 525 Hartford Turnpike mixed-use project to October 20 pending a state MEPA certificate, with Commissioner Emily saying she has "reservations about ultimately this development not having adverse effects on the vernal pool." Separately, the conservation agent told members a lakefront property owner expanded a retaining wall well beyond its approved footprint and "is not responding to anything we do," prompting the board to demand full restoration before any new permit.
