Panel Approves Order For Washington St Dunkin Site
Conservation · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Auburn conservation board clears Dunkin site cleanup, orders Maybel Avenue wetland fix. The Conservation Commission voted unanimously to finalize an order of conditions for a contaminated former gas station at 481 Washington Street, where Branded Realty Group II LLC manager Robert Prenka said tank removal would take "less than 12 months" ahead of a new Dunkin with drive-thru. The board also unanimously issued an enforcement order against a Maybel Avenue trailer-repair business after resident and wetland scientist Dr.
John Rockwood testified that tree clearing and fill work wiped out a vegetated wetland buffer with no permit filed, prompting Chairman Michael Garland to say "I think an enforcement order is warranted." Commissioners separately issued negative determinations on two DPW road projects on South Street and Leicester Street, approved a certificate of compliance for 5 Friedel Street ahead of an October 1 sale, and reinstated the DPW's blanket order of conditions. Minutes from September 9 were accepted 5-0 with Garland abstaining since he missed that meeting.
