Board Approves Haley Wetland Compliance
Conservation · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Templeton Conservation Commission continues a contentious Dudley Road wetlands case after a barn owner's drainage dispute. Chair George Andrews and members Christoph, Joanne and Dave voted 4-0 to push applicant Bradford Kendall's request to clear vegetation around his roughly 60-foot, century-old barn to the October 19 meeting, after commissioners said site visits found wetland plants as close as 11 to 12 feet away, inside the 15 feet Kendall's plan assumed. Kendall said town drainage changes over 15 years have accelerated the barn's decay, calling it "so frustrating that land that we have paid taxes on" now carries "no rights to fix it." Elsewhere, the board unanimously issued a certificate of compliance for Jonathan Haley on Baldwinville Road, approved a negative determination for a 4,000-linear-foot Patriots Road water main replacement, and overrode a MassDEP mapping objection to clear a single-family home and septic system on Otter River Road.
A wetland consultant for Kendall's property could run roughly $1,500, on top of a $262 state filing fee.
