Millbury Finance Committee debates $75,000 facilities hire as capital plan hits $2.66 million. Chairperson Charles Cooper and Vice Chairperson William Pratt pushed Town Manager Karyn Clark and Director of Engineering and Facilities Mark Hollis to quantify savings behind a plan to add a full-time assistant to Hollis, funded by shifting money from a town planner post vacant three years. "If you're telling me you're saving something somewhere, tell me how much," Pratt said.

Hollis said the department's outside-engineering line has already dropped $67,500 as he's brought work in-house from consultant Weston and Sampson. The FY27 capital list, still being finalized, includes $1,500,700 for radio infrastructure, a $311,000 salt shed rebuild (down from a $500,000 estimate) and $250,000 in school requests. Sewer Commissioner Gary Nelson said Hollis's team is planning a roughly $1.5 million pump station replacement on Rayburn Drive this year, with 30 percent of the town's 1960s- and 1970s-era sewer pipe nearing the end of its life.
