Finance Committee · Meeting of February 19, 2026

Paxton's Finance Committee began FY27 budget review facing a $690,987 projected deficit. Chair Mark Love and members reviewed a fourth version of the budget workbook, agreeing to count $500,000 of the $511,363 in certified free cash. The levy limit was corrected to $13,260,000, down about $700,000 from an earlier figure.

Members said the true structural gap is closer to $1.6 million once free cash and $400,000 in ambulance receipts are removed, and one warned "there is literally no chicken on the bone." The committee set weekly Wednesday meetings, with police, fire and DPW to present.
