Millbury Finance Committee recommends $6.4 million in town debt

Finance Committee · Meeting of April 1, 2026

Millbury Finance Committee sets $6,402,945 debt figure ahead of Town Meeting. Chief Financial Officer Katie McKenna told the committee Wednesday that revised interest costs on the $15.5 million school roofs project, financed at 3 percent, brought the net interest payment down to $465,000 from a previously budgeted roughly $800,000; a separate $65,000 covers short-term interest on the sewer pump station project. The committee voted 5-0 twice, first to rescind its earlier debt vote and then to recommend the new $6,402,945 total, with Pratt, Breault, O'Connor, O'Connell and Cooper voting yes and members Cooney and Wells absent.

Town Manager Karyn Clark told the committee "it was not an easy budget" and thanked members for their work since she and McKenna joined the town in January.
