General By-Law Review Committee · Meeting of June 17, 2026
MENDON — The Mendon General By-Law Review Committee said it will not hold a public hearing on its draft noise bylaw before late August or September. Members Tom Morelli, Carl Hill, Karen Mead and Mike Burns reviewed enforcement plans that would let code enforcement officers, police or the Board of Health agent issue citations "the same way you would a parking ticket," with a verbal warning for a first offense and escalating fines, possibly $100 for a second offense, though exact figures were not finalized. The committee plans to monitor decibel levels at Vandervalk Winery and the local drive-in theater this summer to inform thresholds.
It also set plans to tackle water protection and hazardous materials bylaws next meeting, with scenic roads and historic bylaw updates possibly headed to the fall Special Town Meeting. The committee's lone vote, to adjourn, passed 4-0.
