General By-Law Review Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Mendon's General By-Law Review Committee voted 4-0 to raise the town's $50 surplus-property threshold to $1,000 but delayed a vote on a citizen bylaw restricting license-plate reader cameras and surveillance drones. Resident Mike Krager, who drafted the petition, told members "I'd rather act while the iron is hot and it's at the front of people's minds," while committee member Michael Byrne said the town doesn't yet have the cameras and wants more time. Police Chief Kersey told the panel he opposes a bylaw, preferring a Select Board policy because bylaws are harder to undo.
The committee also voted unanimously to recommend the Select Board table a separate noise bylaw. Members scheduled a vote for Monday, September 28, ahead of the Select Board's September 30 meeting.
