Templeton's Board of Health advanced draft rules on battery storage and data centers while delaying a tobacco vote. Health Agent Laurie Wiita reported four COVID-19 tests from May 10-16, all negative, and said tick activity is rising, urging residents to use DEET and watch for bullseye rashes. The board approved its May 5 minutes 2-0 with one member, Cindy Cadoret, not voting since she had missed that meeting.
Wiita said she sent a draft Battery Energy Storage System regulation to police, fire, planning, zoning and other departments for comment, and is circulating a data center zoning bylaw modeled on one Mansfield's town meeting approved, still awaiting state Attorney General review. A vote on tobacco and nicotine rules was skipped because the tobacco alliance representative did not attend; animal control bylaw changes were tabled pending a shift away from regional animal control.
