Westborough Council on Aging approves new cable TV show, plans community center outreach

WESTBOROUGH — April 13, 2026 — Westborough Council on Aging backs new cable show and launches community center messaging effort. The Council voted unanimously at its April 13 meeting to move forward with a proposed monthly 30-minute interview program on Westborough Cable TV, working under the tentative title "Senior Chatter" with the show name left open for reconsideration. Town staff member Kim reported that the Select Board has set a community center action plan as a fiscal year goal following a board retreat on April 11, with scope, timing, and funding discussions expected at upcoming board meetings; Kim said fall Town Meeting is not a realistic target and that a March 2027 article would require re-engaging architects by approximately this fall. The Council agreed to develop public messaging and video content — in partnership with Westborough Cable TV — to build community support before any formal funding ask, with a separate posted working session to be scheduled once the Select Board places the item on its agenda. The Senior Center's WRTA van service, completing its first contract year in June, has held at roughly 300 rides per month, with staff planning expanded outreach to the Willows, the Highlands, Orchard Hill, and public housing sites this spring.
