Lunenburg Council on Aging Welcomes Two Members, Plans Two Summer Concerts

Council on Aging · Meeting of July 14, 2026

Lunenburg Council on Aging approves back-logged minutes, seats two new members, and advances plans to reach isolated seniors. The board unanimously approved minutes from both May and June at its July 14 meeting after skipping the vote at the previous session, then welcomed newly sworn-in members Colleen Roy and Chris Johnson. Chair announced a town band concert at the Eagle House pavilion for July 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., organized independently of town sponsorship by the chair and a member identified as Pete, with the Comeback Crew jazz ensemble to follow on August 3 — both with Eagle House Supporters running concessions as a fundraiser.

The board explored multiple programs to reach housebound seniors, including the Nashoba Neighbors volunteer network serving Lancaster, Bolton, and Berlin, and a free video-visit service called Conversations to Remember; both inquiries are to be forwarded to an outreach coordinator whose hire is pending Select Board ratification. The COA Gift Fund holds approximately $1,485, with no spending yet in the current fiscal year that began July 1. The entire center's first-floor flooring is being replaced beginning the following week, suspending on-site programming.
