Milford Select Board unanimously appoints new Council on Aging member and takes up a student transit proposal at brief March 9 session. Chair Paul Mazzuchelli and members Thomas J. O'Loughlin Esq. and Michael K.

Walsh approved Michelle Crema to the Council on Aging on the recommendation of council chair Dino DeBatala Mays; Crema holds a master's degree in social work and has directed social services at Countryside for more than 30 years, filling the seat of Paul Gallagher, who is stepping back for health reasons. Town Administrator Richard A. Villani Esq. reported the Milford Youth Center will receive the Hockomock Area YMCA's Burnet Family Branch Red Triangle Award at a May 12 ceremony at Lake Pearl.

Student Cairo Barlow presented a civics-project proposal to add targeted stops on MWRTA Route 14 without altering the route or raising fares, prompting Walsh — the board's MWRTA liaison — to promise he would "work closely with Mr. Villani and the MWRTA to follow through." The board also approved a National Grid and Verizon New England pole relocation on Birch Street and continued a license amendment hearing for Central Gas Market Inc. before returning to executive session on a pending Superior Court civil action.
