BOLTON — The Bolton Select Board approved a $34,901,624 fiscal 2027 operating budget by a 2-1 vote, with Chair Kate Buyuk dissenting over school spending concerns. Advisory Committee member Don Cole told the board the Nashoba Regional School District "has never presented a budget at two and a half percent or less" and said the district kept surplus state aid despite forcing a town override last year. Buyuk agreed, saying she doesn't "think that the school district has been receptive to our concerns." The board closed the full 29-article May 4 Annual Town Meeting warrant, approving items including a $75,000 Bower Brook dam repair, a $579,428 capital stabilization transfer and a $98,296 OPEB contribution, all unanimous except the budget.
Conservation Agent Rebecca Bucciaglia warned trails could close within a year or two without the dam work. Members also welcomed new Police Chief Donald Patrick Murphy.
