Select Board · Meeting of March 30, 2026

Rutland Select Board finalized override ballot language for a $2.5 million first-year ask toward a $5.1 million three-year plan voters will decide May 11. Town Administrator Heather Butler said casualty insurance savings and a possible $425,000 cut to Rutland's Wachusett Regional School District assessment allowed the first-year request to drop from $3.1 million. Board member Leah Whiteman said the lower figure reflects "a true needs-based ask." The board also approved an 18.9 percent increase in employee health insurance premiums after consultant Brian Boyle said only Harvard Pilgrim submitted a quote, and voted 3-2 to raise the town's flexible spending account contribution to $500 per employee from $300, with members Paul Mattson and Harry Sechman dissenting.

Sechman said he "would have voted yes for 100, but I have to decline on 200." The board also signed new three-year contracts for Fire Chief Seth Knipe and Police Chief Nicholas Monaco.
