WESTBOROUGH — The Westborough Select Board voted 4-0 to approve a new retiree prescription drug plan projected to save the town roughly $907,000. HR Director Kim and insurance consultant Rusty Short of NFP presented a shift from three to five drug-pricing tiers alongside a new $700 deductible, up from $615, offset by a premium drop from $132 to $77 a month. Board member Patrick Welch recused himself, citing his wife's town employment.
Staff said about 85 percent of the plan's 573 subscribers had not spent $700 on prescriptions through September. One member called it "a good change" since "it saves the town over $900,000." The board also voted 5-0 to join a year-round household hazardous waste disposal program with Veolia's NEDT facility in Sutton, subsidizing residents $50 per household against a $5,000 budget, after the town's lone annual hazardous waste day didn't occur at all in fiscal 2025.
