RUTLAND — Bay Path superintendent tells Rutland panel FY27 assessment stays at the state minimum despite a health insurance spike. Superintendent Kyle Murner and Business Manager Cindy Schofield presented a $31,305,852 total operating budget, with Rutland's assessment rising $81,170 to $1,044,500, driven by a state municipal revenue growth factor rather than new spending. Murner said health insurance through the Hampshire Group jumped nearly 40 percent this year after the 73-municipality group warned "the result of a no vote on the 20% increase would have been that group going bankrupt." Rutland had 40 applicants for 34 freshman seats in the district's first state-mandated blind admissions lottery, drawn from all 670 applicants across Bay Path's 10 member towns, leaving six Rutland students wait-listed.

Murner declined to specify staffing cuts, citing due process, but said numbers would be ready before Rutland's May town meeting.
