Other Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026

Douglas's facilities committee voted 6-0 to add a member to highway design meetings after finding its earlier request never reached the Select Board. Chair Shirley Maczynski moved to let member John Magalio attend any highway design meeting he chooses, saying his construction experience comes "without even having to pay for it," and the motion passed with Linda Brown, Carol Gogolinski, Fred Fontaine, Bob Wormey and Magalio all voting aye alongside Maczynski. Members discovered that a prior committee vote asking the Select Board to authorize representation at those meetings had never actually been presented to the board; Fontaine agreed to raise it.

Brown noted that since four members constitute a quorum, no more than three could attend any single outside meeting without triggering open-meeting posting rules. The committee also confirmed a $45,000 municipal center carpet warrant item falls below its $50,000 review threshold, flagged unresolved cold-room complaints at its own meetings, and scheduled a November 18 site walk at the highway barn.
