Other Committee · Meeting of October 22, 2026
Worcester's License Commission cut Hurricane Betty's hours to 8 p.m. after a fatal shooting outside the club. Commissioners Maritza Cruz, Sharon Fisher and Chair Anthony Vigliotti voted 3-0 for the immediate restriction at Jolo Inc.'s nightclub, 350 Southbridge Street, following an October 11 shooting that killed one man and wounded another. Capt.
Jim Johnson said the club showed "total disregard" for security rules imposed after a 2022 killing there. Girlfriend Nisha Berry told the board, "If protocols were followed, my son would have his dad here today." A formal violation hearing is set for November 5. In a separate case, the board found Next Level Hospitality LLC, 48 Green Street, violated Rule 14 for promoting free shots, imposing a three-day suspension with one day to serve November 5 and capping its Halloween entertainment at midnight.
