Oakham Finance panel OKs $2,750 transfer, override timeline

Finance Committee · Meeting of July 14, 2026

Oakham Finance Committee approves $2,750 reserve transfer, begins building a fall override case. The panel, with Chair Vincent Piucci, Vice Chair Donald Haapakoski and Secretary Clare Hendra present, unanimously sent $2,750 from its reserve fund to the Board of Health for a state-mandated inspection and approved year-end line-item transfers covering snow and ice deficits. Most of the meeting focused on Hendra's new revenue-forecasting spreadsheet, built around a preliminary $350,000 Proposition 2½ override figure for fiscal 2028, which she called "real, real conservative." Members raced an early-August state deadline to place an override question on the November 3 ballot, discussing moving a special town meeting to October 5 and possibly running a separate town ballot.

Cost figures from every department, including police, fire and the regional schools, are due back by July 31.
