Millbury panel elects Raymond chair, approves basketball court

Millbury Conservation Commission reorganizes, elects Jeffrey Raymond chairman. The panel also named Stacey Reed vice chair and reelected Samuel Hill clerk, then unanimously issued a negative determination for a 50-by-40-foot basketball court at 162 West Main Street, conditioned on extended erosion controls. Members continued a Notice of Intent for additions at 4 Sunset Drive to June 17 so owners can explore more porous driveway options, and continued a Lake Singletary aquatic-management case to the same date.

Conservation Agent Don Flynn reported Ramson Pond remains roughly three feet below the spillway amid resident complaints to DPW Director Matt Stencil and association president Kathy Crew, and said the drawdown gate's seven-foot minimum opening — not user error — drove this year's steeper-than-planned nine-foot drawdown. Park Hill Village trustees Frank Krogan and Randy Kang reported most conservation-land encroachments resolved, but said neighbor Ahmad has not responded on a boundary-planting agreement. "This commission proposes outdoor recreational activities, that's it," Flynn said of a separate dispute over new no-fishing signage near a rebuilt bridge.
