Millbury conservation board orders Primrose Lane land cleared

Millbury Conservation Chairman Ronald Stead announced he is stepping down after more than 20 years, capping a meeting that also resolved a land dispute at 8 Primrose Lane. Homeowner Waqar Ahmad agreed to remove driveway pavement encroaching on conservation land and plant a tree-line boundary after Town Counsel Andrew Lechner advised the commission that adverse possession doesn't apply to conservation land. The board unanimously issued a negative determination for a 241-square-foot wetland at 118 West Main Street and continued hearings on Lake Singletary, 100 Riverlin Street, 23 Ramshorn Road and the Miller Fence redevelopment at 333-337 Southwest Cutoff.

Vice Chairperson Jeffrey Raymond said "I'm not loving the idea of us putting non-native fish into our ponds," pushing back on a resident's proposal to stock Ramshorn Brook and Brierly Pond with trout using conservation funds. Stead may leave the commission entirely when his term ends in June.
