Library Debuts Pop-Up Storytime and New Youth Programming This Week
LEOMINSTER — The Leominster Public Library rolled out a run of new hands-on programming for kids and teens this week, headlined by a first-of-its-kind Pop-Up Story-time at Barrett Park and a Meet and Greet with a local therapy dog, while the city added a newly named event, Starburst 2026, to its August calendar.

The library is taking storytime outdoors on Friday, Aug. 7, with a Pop-Up Story-time at Barrett Park from 10 to 10:45 a.m., followed that afternoon by a Meet and Greet with a local therapy dog from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Teens get their own slate that same day with Barbie Day, running from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
On Monday, Aug. 10, the library pairs with the Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness for a Garden Mosaics session for teens from 10 to 11 a.m., while younger patrons can take part in an all-day Kindergarten Celebration Story-Walk running from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ahead of the new school year. Teens return Tuesday, Aug. 11, for A Tree's Life, another nature-themed morning program.
On the city's event calendar, a newly listed event called Starburst 2026 has been added for Saturday, Aug. 22, joining the run of Downtown Sounds concerts already booked for the two prior August weekends.

Thursday, Aug. 6: Explore and Play for 1 to 3 year olds, 10 to 10:45 a.m., and Movie Thursday featuring "In the Heights" for teens, 4 to 6 p.m., both at the library.
