Leominster Posts Updates on Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project
LEOMINSTER — The city's Community Development office published fresh guidance this week on the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project, along with new FAQs for home-based businesses and the Flamingo Express, giving residents three separate points of city guidance to track heading into the weekend.
TOWN HALL
The Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project drew the most substantial update from City Hall, with Community Development posting a "Stay updated on all of the components" notice directing residents to the latest project details on the city's news page. The project remains one of the more closely watched infrastructure efforts in the city's current cycle of public works updates.
City Hall also posted a new FAQ for residents considering a home-based business, with attached information laying out the parameters for operating one within city limits. Separately, the city published a Flamingo Express FAQ page addressing resident questions about the program, though further detail was not available on the homepage teaser.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Leominster Public Library has a busy stretch of teen and family programming ahead. Barbie Day draws teens to the library Friday afternoon, and yo-yo performer Brett "Ooch" Outchcunis is booked for an all-ages show August 10, the same day as a Kindergarten Celebration Story-Walk and a Garden Mosaics workshop with the Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness.
Library staff also swapped out one teen offering for another: Teen Tournament Tuesday, previously set for August 11, has been canceled, while a Teen Flipped Movie Night and Craft has been added for August 12. Downtown Sounds, the city's outdoor concert series, returns to the municipal calendar Saturday, August 8, for its second weekend of shows, with additional dates set for August 14 and 15.
COMING UP
The Leominster City Council meets Monday, August 10, alongside two public hearings scheduled the same day. The Conservation Commission and the Fall Brook Building Committee both meet Tuesday, August 11, along with a Legal Affairs Sub-Committee session.
At the library, Chess Club meets August 10, followed by an English Conversation Class and "A Tree's Life" program August 11. A Brown Bag Book Group discussion of "The Light Between Oceans" and a JEOPARDY Game Night are both set for August 13, and an estate-planning seminar is scheduled for August 12. Downtown Sounds continues Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15.
