Grafton Schools Release Roofing Capital Plan Before Aug. 26

Grafton Public Schools posted an updated capital plan addressing roofing needs at Grafton Middle School this week, as the district finalizes two professional development days and prepares for an Aug. 26 first day of class for kindergarten through grade 12.

TOWN HALL

The MBTA and Keolis, the T's operations and maintenance partner for commuter rail, confirmed that a temporary construction schedule remains in effect on the Worcester Line, with changes continuing through September.

In-person early voting for the 2026 state primary opened Saturday at the Municipal Center Gymnasium, 30 Providence Road, and continues through the week.

SCHOOLS

Grafton Middle School's roofing needs are outlined in a new capital plan and roof timeline report posted by the district this week, as the School Committee weighs facility priorities heading into the school year. Staff return for professional development days Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 24 and 25, ahead of the first day of school Wednesday, Aug. 26, for students in kindergarten through grade 12; pre-kindergarten students begin Sept. 8.

The district also opened Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year and streamlined supply lists for elementary and middle school students. Incoming Grafton High School students and rising ninth graders can attend summer iPad deployment sessions. Grafton Middle School holds an Open Door Day for self-guided family visits Monday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 5:35 p.m., and Millbury Street Elementary School holds grade-level Open Doors sessions Tuesday, Aug. 25, for second and third graders at 1:30 p.m. and fourth through sixth graders at 2 p.m. A district Pre-K Open House follows Thursday, Aug. 27.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Grafton Public Library is taking part in the Massachusetts Center for the Book's 2026 Reading Challenge this month, offering patrons of all ages themed prompts to work through, and continues its drop-in cribbage games every Friday.
