Library · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Westborough Library trustees heard that the renovated building's occupancy permit has slipped from September 1 to mid-September. Owner's project manager Steve Theron of Vertex told the board that roofing and mechanical subcontractors are now "responding" after earlier delays, with sidewalk demolition starting that week and library shelving arriving August 3. Library Director Kate said "services" will be "impacted through the month of September" as staff prepare to relocate from the temporary space.

Trustees voted 5-0 by roll call to accept the Treasurer's Report, which showed the library spent down its fiscal year 2026 budget and shifted a custodial budget surplus to cover another department's overage. The Friends of the Library reported raising $16,000 at the midpoint of their fiscal year, giving the library roughly $11,000 for programming and $2,000 for museum passes. Trustees set September 23 for their trustee retreat, replacing their regular September meeting.
