Dudley's library trustees voted unanimously to bar AI-written or AI-narrated works from the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library collection. Library Director Nicole told the board a part-time staff position will not gain hours in fiscal year 2027, pausing plans to expand the Dolly Parton Imagination Library initiative, saying "we are going to put the brakes on this project for a little bit." Trustees recalled a September 29 town vote that came close to forcing the library's closure before narrowly securing funding, calling it a "third crack at it." Chairman Kate Horne and Co-Chairman Benjamin Craver were absent, traveling abroad, and the board could not approve minutes from two September meetings due to a quorum issue over member abstentions.
The library logged 45 programs with 523 attendees in September. Trustees urged residents to attend the October 19 Town Meeting.
