Library · Meeting of October 1, 2026

Hubbardston library trustees approve $1,000 for renovation touch-ups while racing a grant deadline. Library Director Christine Barbera told the Board of Library Trustees the library must show progress by Oct. 30 or forfeit continued participation in a roughly $59,050 Massachusetts Broadband Institute digital-equity grant, warning "if we don't take any action this month, then we're forfeiting all of this." Trustees voted unanimously to spend up to $1,000 from the donation account on paint and carpet cleaning for the building's entryway and stairwell ahead of a planned open house for the newly renovated lower level, funded by a $40,000 Community Preservation Act grant Barbera said is now fully spent. Trustee candidate Melinda, whose appointment goes before the Select Board Oct. 5, called the application process "a journey back through time." The board also approved its Sept. 3 minutes, 4-0-0.
