Library · Meeting of October 27, 2026
Douglas library trustees voted to ban sleeping in the library after a disruptive napping incident. The Board of Trustees approved the patron-behavior amendment 5-0 with one abstention, after staff said a patron was found "sprawled out" and unresponsive in October, the first such incident in ten years. Library Director Justin told the board "the issue is that if we don't have a policy against it, we can't ask someone to stop." Trustees also learned the Select Board voted that same night to offer the town administrator job to David Kersey, a police chief described as being from Minden.
The library's Friends auction brought in roughly $9,984, and Oktoberfest raised $950 with 1,057 visitors. Trustees approved 2 p.m. early closures before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, and formally designated Don as primary signatory and Lori Church as alternate signatory for vouchers and payroll.
