Hubbardston Library Trustees Form ADA Grant Working Group, Weigh Renovation Bids

HUBBARDSTON — May 7, 2026 — Hubbardston Library Trustees pursue ADA planning grant and advance lower-level renovation bids at May meeting. The Board of Library Trustees voted 4-0-1 at its May 7 meeting to approve internal fund transfers covering $5,777 in repairs and $1,480 in library supplies, moving those costs from the Services account to State Aid and transferring $1,778 from Supplies to Services at the request of Library Director Christine Barbera. The board formed a three-member working group — Trustees Connie Strittmatter, Krista Goguen, and Chair Morgan Brinker — to draft an application for the Municipal ADA Improvement Planning Grant, due June 12, 2026. On the lower-level renovation, Trustee Chris Kisiel reported bids from two plastering specialists — Derek Richards at $6,350 for demolition and plastering and Rick Keller at $5,180 for plastering only — while Strittmatter said a general contractor quote is expected within a week and two to three additional GC quotes are anticipated, with the board acknowledging that total costs are likely to exceed the $50,000 RFP threshold. Interim Town Administrator Sean Fitzgerald told Trustee Maria Tourigny that no capital improvement projects will be funded this year, though the library's renovation will remain on the planning list.
