SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Housing Authority board reported 38 apartment turnovers since April 1, nearly double last year's pace, while fielding resident safety complaints. Staff member Kelly said 12 Towers units and 26 family units turned over, compared with about 20 in the prior 12 months. The board approved a $208,974 Section 8 portability payment covering 143 checks and tabled a draft flag-display policy, with member McSweeney saying the draft "seems to address" illumination and weather-removal rules.
Resident Nancy Warren told the board recurring gutter leaks have left "mounds of ice" blocking her back door, a problem she said inspectors flagged in December and September but that "hasn't been addressed." Staff said dumpsters removed August 27 for a paving project cannot return until repairs finish, and a contractor meeting was set for the next day. The board also reported its outside attorney is retiring and that one recommended replacement, Heather Donnelly, declined new clients.
