Other Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026

SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Master Plan Steering Committee reviewed early outreach for its 2026 plan update and debated rewriting the 2016 vision statement. Chair Nicole Torres and Vice Chair Fran Manella heard from consultants Barrett Planning Group and Kimley Horn, who reported 21 members across 15 boards completed a background survey and a September "question of the month" drew 57 responses. Planner Lisa Wong said 75 to 100 people engaged at an October outreach event.

One member said an informal AI-assisted review of the 2016 plan found the town had "overwhelmingly" not met its stated goals. Member Shannon Wall called parts of the existing vision statement "fluffy," saying phrases like "beautiful and strong community" lack measurable meaning. The committee unanimously approved its 2026 meeting calendar, pending an April date change, and set its next session, a public forum, for Nov. 12.
