Grafton Library Board Elects New Chair, Authorizes $10,000 Emergency Tech Purchase

Grafton Library trustees elected new leadership and approved $10,000 for emergency computer replacements at their June 2 meeting. The board unanimously elected Aaron as chair and Rachel as vice chair following the May town elections, then approved up to $10,000 from state aid to replace computers described by Library Director Katrina as being in "catastrophic failure", including children's room machines that had been removed from service, one after it began smoking. Trustee Doug will work alongside Katrina to determine specific purchases and will lead development of a long-term tech replacement cycle plan.

The board also voted unanimously to consolidate three state aid accounts, totaling nearly $200,000 in accumulated funds, into a single account at the request of Town Finance Department staff, a change Katrina said is not required by the state and not done elsewhere in the region. The Friends of the Library annual meeting is June 12 at 6 p.m. in the Historic Reading Room; the back-to-school book sale is August 22 and 23.
