Grafton Library Board Elects New Chair, Authorizes $10,000 Emergency Tech Purchase

Grafton Library trustees elected new leadership and approved $10,000 for emergency computer replacements at their June 2 meeting. The board unanimously elected Aaron as chair and Rachel as vice chair following the May town elections, then approved up to $10,000 from state aid to replace computers described by Library Director Katrina as being in "catastrophic failure" — including children's room machines that had been removed from service, one after it began smoking. Trustee Doug will work alongside Katrina to determine specific purchases and will lead development of a long-term tech replacement cycle plan.

The board also voted unanimously to consolidate three state aid accounts — totaling nearly $200,000 in accumulated funds — into a single account at the request of Town Finance Department staff, a change Katrina said is not required by the state and not done elsewhere in the region. The Friends of the Library annual meeting is June 12 at 6 p.m. in the Historic Reading Room; the back-to-school book sale is August 22 and 23.
