Dudley Water Board OKs $75K Sewer Truck
Other Committee · Meeting of March 19, 2026
Dudley water board sends six warrant articles to spring Town Meeting, defers new truck for water side. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted unanimously to approve articles totaling more than $450,000, including $75,000 from sewer retained earnings for a truck to replace a rusted-out 2012 Ford F-350, roughly $204,000 to pay down PFAS-related treatment plant bonds carrying 4 to 5 percent interest, up to $100,000 in zero-interest state loans for the town's lead service line inventory with an expected $40,000 in forgiveness, and $118,000 for an excavation trailer so crews can dig up lead lines in-house. "It seems like it's cleaner if you just buy a truck out of the sewer department," one commissioner said.
A parallel plan to replace the water department's failing 2007 truck was pushed to the fall Town Meeting amid unresolved questions about transferring vehicles between the town's water and sewer enterprise funds.
