Select Board member Garcia launches re-election bid, targets tree bylaw and roads

SHREWSBURY — March 20, 2026 — Shrewsbury Select Board member Carlos Garcia formally announced his re-election campaign in a community access TV interview aired March 20. Garcia, who has served since 2023 and works at the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, cited passage of a private road maintenance bylaw and a dementia-friendly community designation among first-term achievements. He is asking voters for one of two available Select Board seats in the May 5 annual town election. His stated second-term priorities include a tree preservation bylaw currently in development with town staff, a strategy to keep Shrewsbury above the 10 percent affordable housing threshold required for Chapter 40B safe harbor, and a capital investment plan to address what he described as widespread poor road conditions across town.
