Capital Planning · Meeting of September 30, 2026

Douglas capital panel backs $136,000 in truck, carpet and sidewalk upgrades. The Capital Improvement Committee voted unanimously three times September 30, recommending $62,000 to replace a rusting 2010 Douglas Public Schools pickup truck, $25,000 for sidewalk tractor broom and sander attachments from CN Wood, and $49,000 for municipal center carpet replacement and moving costs. A district facilities representative identified only as Diana said the aging truck faces up to $10,000 in repairs and is "in dire need" of replacement.

The committee's chair said $106,241.26 in turn-back funds from six closed-out projects, including a state asbestos-removal grant tied to Rep. McKenna's office, would cover most of the cost, leaving about $30,000 to come from free cash. Members Chris and Shirley moved and seconded the motions.
