Auburn Planning Board Stalls Nancy Drive Acceptance, Demands Core-Sample Testing

AUBURN — March 10, 2026 — Auburn Planning Board halts Nancy Drive acceptance vote, demanding core samples before action. The board voted unanimously at its March 10 meeting to continue a public hearing on accepting the residential road as a public way, with Chair Ronald E. Brooks and Vice Chair Glenn Feldman rejecting a DPW rationale that the road was accepted by omission in 1971 because a neighboring street, A Street, was explicitly rejected for noncompliance. "If you took a drive down Nancy Drive right now, you would see that's going to need some serious work," Feldman said. The board directed town staff to ask the Select Board whether its referral of the matter includes a funding commitment for testing and eventual repairs, as no developer or homeowners association exists to absorb those costs. The hearing was continued to March 24. Town staff also reported the town manager has made a job offer to a candidate for the vacant full-time town planner position.
