Auburn Planning Board Approves AT&T Tower Site Plan at Lester Street

AUBURN — February 10, 2026 — Auburn Planning Board approves AT&T wireless tower and continues three other pending matters. The board unanimously granted site plan approval Tuesday to New Singular Wireless PCS LLC, which operates as AT&T, for a telecommunications facility near water tanks at 174 Lester Street, clearing the project's last local hurdle after variance relief was previously granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals and a major land disturbance permit, LDP 2025-99, was issued January 21. A site plan modification for two commercial buildings at 282 Selfridge Street was continued to February 24 after engineer Zachary Glass of Existing Grade submitted revised plans — including a switch from underground recharge to an open infiltration basin — too late for prior board review. Chair Ronald E. Brooks pressed engineer Michael Walsh of Walsh Engineering Associates on untreated runoff at 15 Hardscrabble Road, where Casella Waste Systems is proposing a gravel wetland upgrade to a drainage system that ultimately feeds town wells. Staff also previewed a draft inclusionary zoning bylaw that would require 15 percent affordable units in any residential development exceeding 10 units, with affordability set at 80 percent of Worcester-area median income, with a planning board hearing now expected at the March 24 meeting.
