Auburn Advances $75,000 Economic Plan Warrant Article
Other Committee · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Auburn eyes $75,000 to rewrite its 2017 economic development plan. The Economic Development Committee heard the warrant article is headed to the October 27 town meeting after Select Board review, alongside Planning Board endorsements of a data center moratorium and a bylaw requiring 15 percent affordable units in developments over 10 units. Auburn sits at 9.92 percent of the state's 10 percent subsidized housing threshold and needs roughly eight more units to clear it, which would exempt the town from unrestricted Chapter 40B applications.
Committee member Patrick said planning documents too often skip "the value component, the money component" of resilience planning. The committee also reviewed a Urban Land Institute report on Drury Square and unanimously approved its August 20 minutes, corrected to list Ms. Baker as absent.
