Mendon Assessors voted to open an executive session over a football club's tax appeal and set a Nov. 4 classification hearing. Chair Kenneth M. O'Brien and member Kevin Rudden approved the August 26 minutes 2-0, then voted 2-0 to enter executive session under M.G.L. c. 30A, Section 21(a)(6) to discuss the town's negotiating position in New England Football Club v. Mendon before the Appellate Tax Board.
Clerk David Kurczy was absent. Principal Assessor Sherrie Bates reported average residential assessed values rose "just a little over 2%," down from years of double-digit gains. The board also scheduled an Oct. 21 joint session with the Select Board on the Senior Means Tested Exemption and the Nov. 4 Classification Hearing, which must post a fixed start time as a legal public hearing.
