Board of Assessors · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Mendon's Board of Assessors approved fiscal year 2027 property values and voted to sponsor two veteran-related tax exemption articles for the fall town meeting warrant. Principal Assessor Sherrie Bates told Chairman Kenneth M. O'Brien and member Kevin Rudden that single-family home values rose an average of 2.71 percent, while two-family properties jumped 11.79 percent and three-family properties 13.95 percent "based on sales." The board voted unanimously, 3-0, to sponsor warrant articles adopting Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59 exemptions for parents of service members killed in action and for veterans whose homes are held in trust, after one member briefly moved to abstain, saying he lacked "enough information about this clause." The board also signed a Chapter 61B lien release and new lien for a parcel off 6 Northbridge Street and entered executive session over an Appellate Tax Board appeal filed by the New England Football Club.
