Board of Assessors · Meeting of October 28, 2026

LUNENBURG — The Lunenburg Board of Assessors reviewed DOR-approved property values and caught a double-counted new growth figure in its draft tax classification presentation. Members Brian LaFond, Sarah Kammer and Brian Fernandez confirmed new growth for fiscal 2027 at $458,747, above the $400,000 budgeted estimate, and reviewed a calculated maximum allowable levy before finding the error, prompting one member to say, "I haven't had anybody look at this, so I'm glad you saw that." The average single-family home value is projected at $527,763, up $10,467 in taxable value from last year. The board signed 527 excise tax bills totaling $86,183.67 and a 10-year forestry plan for a Holman Street property.

No vote was taken on adopting a single or split tax rate; that decision goes to the Select Board at a November 24 hearing. A resident raised concerns about delays in updating online property records after past tax bill mailings, which a board member called "valid feedback."
