Webster Planning Board Continues Gas Station and Used Car Lot Applications to March 30

WEBSTER — March 9, 2026 — Webster Planning Board continues two major South Main Street development applications and greenlights cannabis pre-ordering. At its March 9 meeting, the board voted unanimously to continue the site plan for a proposed used car sales lot at 56 Main Street to March 30, directing staff to notify the neighboring town of Dudley about the nature of the proposed service activities on the site, which sits within an estimated 500 feet of a water supply notification boundary. The board also continued to March 30 a refiled special permit and site plan for a gasoline service station with a convenience store at 415 through 431 South Main Street, where project engineer Jeff Cravo of VASK Associates presented a substantially redesigned plan shifting the building away from the French River in response to DEP concerns — but fire department comments about ladder-truck access around the new 3,600-square-foot building remained unresolved. The board unanimously approved a special permit modification allowing Webster Cannabis Company LLC at 4 Town Forest Road to accept online pre-orders with in-store pickup, with attorney Phil Soberman of Vicente LLP describing the change as "just pre-ordering — a customer convenience so that they spend less time in the store." The board also unanimously approved the final site plan and special permit decision for a new auto body shop at 1 Beacon Street, submitted by applicant Frank Tachowski.
